St. Placidus is located about 10 miles north and 4 miles west of Burt, Hettinger, ND. Never having a post office, it was not offically classified as a town. The "outpost" town of Willa was about 3 miles east northeast of St. Placidus. The first church was built in 1904. It was small and had burned down a year later. St. Placidus was a very promising location with a store, nice church & rectory, Catholic school, and widower's residence. The church was tore down in the 1980's after vandals ransacked it. The altar and baptismal is now at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott, ND. The beautiful stain-glassed windows are in a church in Bismarck, ND.
